If I bought a car, I
would drive a lot. or... I would
drive a lot, if I bought a car.
Again:
Do NOT think of the Conditional as a Verb Tense. In that last exercise, the
Time moves from the Past Simple to ???? (Somewhere around the Present.)
That WHY
was just a POSSIBLY.
But your last WHY is easier. It's not going to
happen. It's TOO LATE!
IF + S +
HAD + V3 + [then] S + would have + V3
If I had bought a
car, I would have driven a lot.
(TOO LATE!)
Now there some other conditional beginnings for Clauses instead of IF,
like:
If only...
As long as...
I wish...

Helping Verbs like may, could, would, should, must
MAY be part of the Conditional Mood BECAUSE
they usually make the IF part silent. You'll see that next lesson.
If you study hard, it will all make sense...Promise.
