WORDS TO USE WITH PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS

How long is often used as beginning of a question:
How long have you been studying for that class?

The answer may use either For or Since:
For - with more General starting time. I have been studying for a week.
Since - with more Specific starting time. I have been studying since Friday.
