Mary wants Karl to drive her car.
 (If he won't eat green fish at the same time.)

Now the nice thing about this formula (S + WANT/WANTS + S2 + TO + V1) is that you can change it to the Past or the Future easily! All you have to do is change the form of WANT to WANTED or WILL WANT.

Look:
Mary wants Karl to drive her car. (S + WANT/WANTS + S2 + TO + V1)
Mary wanted Karl to drive her car. (S + WANTED + S2 + TO + V1)
Mary will want Karl to drive her car. (S + WILL WANT + S2 + TO + V1)

See, just change the one word and you have a time machine!
