Lesson L - Grammar Music

Past Simple verb (V2) is about the
time something happened.
Let's review just a little...Up to now, we have just used the (V1) kind of verb. We put an (s) ending
on sometimes. (I work. Peter works.) And we put an ING
ending to show it is Continuous. (John is working) We have even gone into the
Future. (I will work next week.) But to go into the Past, we need a different
verb form for each verb.
1. TO BE in the Past Simple.
I was at home yesterday.
(S + WAS/WERE)
Please notice that Past Simple always shows the
time something was happening.
I was at home yesterday.
You were at home yesterday.
He was at home yesterday.
She was at home yesterday.
It was at home yesterday.
We were at home yesterday.
You were at home yesterday.
They were at home yesterday.
Changing to negative uses all the same forms with not.
I was not at home yesterday. OR
I wasn't at home yesterday.
We weren't at home yesterday.
Now try it with a question.
you next
were home Sunday
