SayIt™ for Lesson H............Sound..mp3?
NEAR, NEAR
When you make the sound in the word near, it's really a sound made with two small sounds:
ne-ar.
Say that slowly after me: ne - ar.
But we always say them together quickly as one sound:
near. Say that more quickly after me:
near.
The main thing you have to do to make this sound is put the
two small sounds together very quickly so they sound as one. Say this sentence
after me: Fear appears near this year.
Say it again after me: Fear appears near this year……..See how you put the two small sounds
into one quickly?
You should not be surprised that the spelling is not always the same. Look at: here, beer, and the contraction, we're. And the words earth and learn don't sound like near at all.
OK! Try this sentence after me:
Here, I hear with my clear ear…..Again after me: Here, I hear with my clear ear…..
And here is one more sentence for the road:
We're clearly near the beer...You can say that or do that… Cheers! And Thank You!
