Go with the Pronoun

The house is IS because it is just 1 (one) house.
Its pronoun would be IT.
So its verb is IS.
So our house IS big.

But...our houses ARE big.

Because now their pronoun is THEY.
And if only you has 2 (two) houses, THEY ARE big.

My two houses are big. (Both of them.)
