"Trust Me!"
Future Perfect
- What the Future Will Be Like
There are two important things to know about the Future
Perfect.
(1) When someone says:
"By July, I will have graduated." (TIME + S + WILL HAVE + V3)
Or
"They will have found more money by next year." (S + WILL HAVE + V3
+ TIME)
they are talking about a future AS IF it had already happened, and they are
looking at it from a certain point in the future instead of
now.
(2) You might say the Future Perfect is
bit like the Conditional, because it always depends upon
something you could say IF about.
By next June, your $2000 investment will have grown to $3,000
(IF the stock goes up in value by then and by that much like we
think it will.)
So Future Perfect always means" "Trust me. This will happen and I'll show
you what it will look like then."
Again, Future Perfect (1) Must have a
time, and (2) you trust it will happen.
Now change this Future Simple to a Future Perfect.
I will go to Paris this December.
(S + WILL HAVE + V3 + TIME)
Paris gone year
