Right again...You added -ly to safe and now we have "safely".   I hope you drive safely.



3. A few adverbs are not made from adjectives.   
badly
comes directly from bad     well (the adverb) is an irregular form for good (the adjective).


Adjective= bad   (He wrote bad letters)
Adverb = badly   (He wrote letters badly.)

Adjective = good (She wrote good letters.)
Adverb = well      (She wrote letters well.)
